TED.com- Building a toaster from scratch [Thomas Thwaites]

1. The TED organization (TED= Technology, Engineering, Design) is a non-profit organization that helps great thinkers spread their ideas to the world. There are confrences Several times every year.

2. Their website is a showcase of videos for all the amazing talks that are given by the greatest thinkers of the modern world. It also serves as a way for TED members and followers to communicate. The design of the website is very modular and interesting, with video links embedded into the main page.

3. Design, technology, science and business, because they will help broaden our prespective and give us insight on things that will help us in the future.

4. The Toaster project, It's Broken, and it's time to redesign.

5. (see top post)

6. The talk i listened to was by Thomas Thwaites, a professional designer from London, England. His job is not unlike some jobs that i would like to have. He challenged himself with building a toaster from scratch, based on a quote from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy a book that i have read. His type of job is a new impoprtant job that is bursting at the seams with opportunities.

  1. Yours was a neat selection. How do you think Thomas got involved in design work?

Can you figure out how to embed the video in your post?
