Blog Assignment: Survival At Sea

This thought-provoking and interesting activity allowed for individual ideas to be put up against other team member ideas. I thought that water and M.R.E rations were good things to have, and definently my top two, because you need both to survive for very long. The last thing that i would need is definently the sextant, as it is useless without the proper maps and charts. The oil and the shark repellent were hard to rank for me, i thought that the oil was less important since i already had a mirror ranked higher, however, i had never heard of shark repellent before. The team agreed that water was most important, followed by M.R.E's. Also, we agreed a mirror, rope, and plastic sheeting were important. My group and I, for the most part were on the same general page, or at least in the same book, having ranked several items exactly the same. However, we disagreed on the oil, chocolate, maps, and rum. Experts at the Coast Guard think much differently apparently, as we only ranked 3 items correctly. I believe that having BOTH oil AND a mirror is not important, and one could have been suffice. This Activity made me think and now i know what i want to bring on a sea trip!
